Promptware

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 18, 2026

Promptware is a browser extension that lets you save, organize, and AI-enhance your prompts on AI chat sites. This policy explains exactly what data Promptware handles — and what it does not.

Summary

  • Your prompt library is stored locally in your browser. It is not uploaded anywhere.
  • The only data that leaves your device is the specific prompt text you choose to enhance, sent at the moment you click Enhance to the Promptware backend over HTTPS.
  • Promptware does not read your browsing history, scrape page content, log keystrokes, build personal profiles, or run analytics or trackers.

What we store locally

The following stay on your device using the browser's extension storage and are never transmitted by us:

  • Saved prompts (title, body, tags, variables), folders, favorites, and “recently used” timestamps.
  • Your settings (enhancer backend URL, default mode).

You can export or delete this data at any time by removing the extension.

What is sent off your device, and when

Enhancement is an explicit, user-initiated action. When (and only when) you click Enhance — in the popup, the on-page panel, the right-click menu, or via the keyboard shortcut — Promptware sends:

  • the prompt text you selected or typed, and
  • the selected enhancement “mode” (e.g. General, Coding, Marketing)

to the Promptware backend at https://promptware.senecode.tech over an encrypted HTTPS connection. The backend forwards that text to a third-party AI model provider solely to generate the improved prompt, and returns the result to your browser.

We do not:

  • send your saved prompt library,
  • send page content, URLs, browsing history, or anything you did not submit for enhancement,
  • sell or rent your data,
  • use your prompt text to train models,
  • use the data for advertising, credit decisions, or any purpose unrelated to producing the enhancement.

Prompt text is processed transiently to produce the enhancement. Minimal, short-lived operational logs (e.g. rate-limit counters and error diagnostics) may be kept to keep the service available and prevent abuse; these are not used to profile you.

Build-configured backend. The public extension sends enhancement requests only to the Promptware backend configured in the release build. Development builds can be pointed at localhost before packaging.

Permissions and why they are needed

  • storage — to save your prompt library and settings locally on your device.
  • activeTab — to insert a chosen prompt into the text field of the tab you are using, only when you trigger it.
  • contextMenus — to add the right-click “Enhance / Save to Promptware” actions.
  • Host access (AI chat sites only) — Promptware's on-page features run only on a fixed list of AI chat sites (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, DeepSeek, Mistral, Grok, Poe, you.com, Hugging Face Chat). It does not run on other websites.
  • Host access to the backend domain — to send Enhance requests to the Promptware backend configured in the extension build.

Password fields are explicitly ignored and never read.

Third parties

To generate enhancements, the backend uses a third-party AI model provider. Only the prompt text and mode you submit are shared with that provider, solely to return the enhanced prompt.

Children

Promptware is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Affiliation

Promptware is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, Perplexity, or any other AI provider. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
